Subrata Banarjee
Subrata is a PhD candidate with the Department of Pacific Affairs, Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs. He is from Bangladesh and has worked as a university teacher in the 'Department of Criminology and Police Science'; Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Furthermore, he worked as a researcher in the research and planning cell of Bangladesh Police on policing and criminal justice issues, and has prior work experience in gender rights, policing, labour rights, and children’s rights in developmental organisations. He also completed an internship at Terrorism Prevention of UNODC, Vienna, Austria, in 2012, and graduated with his second MA in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, Canada. His current PhD research involves the role of service providers to help women access to justice for domestic violence cases in Bangladesh and PNG. He completed his undergraduate and first Master's in Criminology and Police Science from Bangladesh. He has several publications on gender-based violence, labour rights, children’s rights, terrorism, punishment, and policing.
