Shireen is a Literary Studies PhD candidate at the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics (College of Arts and Social Sciences). For her Honours thesis she won the Grahame Johnston Prize in Australian Literature in 2022. Her research interests with regard to connections between Australia and Asia encompass Literary Studies, History, and Cultural Studies. She is currently researching representations of South, Southeast and West Asian people in historical and contemporary Australian literature.
