Mohammad Ibrahim Khalad is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at the Australian National University. Currently, he is immersed in a research endeavor aiming to understand the perception of masculinity among Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. His primary focus in this PhD research is to delve into the intricate experience of being a man within the challenging environment of a refugee camp. This exploration involves examining how masculinity is shaped and understood in such vulnerable settings. Khalad's fascination with the intricate connection between migration and masculinity was ignited during his pursuit of a second master's degree. He successfully completed his second master's program at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) within Erasmus University Rotterdam. Notably, his research paper garnered distinction, and his work was recognized with the prestigious 'best research paper award' for his thesis titled "Ambiguous Positionalities: Bangladeshi Migrant Men in The Hague." In addition to this academic pursuits, Khalad serves as a faculty member in the field of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Although he is currently on a study leave, his affiliation with the university traces back to 2010. Prior to embarking on his academic journey, Khalad contributed to research efforts with the UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS) and Nagorik Uddyog.
