Dr. Arshad Abbasi holds a PhD in international relations from the University of Pretoria. Prior to that he did his M-Phil and MSc in International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University and MA Political Science from the University of Punjab. Dr. Abbasi straddles the worlds of academia and diplomacy. He joined Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2012. Before that he taught in the Department of Politics and International Relations at International Islamic University in Islamabad, Pakistan. after joining the field of diplomacy, he continues to teach as a visiting faculty at Quaid-e-Azam University at frequent intervals. In his diplomatic career, Dr. Abbasi represented Pakistan in Jordan, South Africa and currently Australia. He attended conferences and events both nationally and internationally. Besides that, he also attends academic conferences to present his research about the topical issues of international relations. His research interests include: Pakistan’s domestic and foreign policy, South Asian regional and global politics, Politics of Middle East, Soft power, Peace and conflict studies, Counter terrorism and religious radicalisation.
