An online workshop

Are you looking to turn a thesis chapter or paper in progress into a journal article? Does the world of academic publishing seem frustrating or intimidating? This online workshop aims to demystify academic journals and help you get published. Led by Shameem Black, Associate Professor in the School of Culture, History and Language and Co-Editor of South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies, the workshop will offer a convivial environment suitable for researchers working in the humanities and social sciences.

By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

  • Understand how journals evaluate paper submissions;
  • Develop a publishing strategy based on your priorities;
  • Discover if a journal is a good fit for your goals;
  • Begin planning a publication based on your current research;
  • Collaborate with peers to support each other.

Registration is essential as spaces are limited. You should be at the stage where you have started to conduct research and are ready to think about publication. Researchers at all stages are welcome, with priority for SARI members. Please bring your relevant materials, such as a thesis chapter or notes for a paper in progress, to the workshop.

This workshop is made possible through the support of the ANU South Asia Research Institute (SARI).
